When privacy and transparency goes hand in hand
A private home, Villa Amsterdam has been rebuilt with respect to the shape of the original property, a notary house. Designed by HofmanDujardin, Villa Amsterdam is characterised by materialisation and detailing. Assorted Kvadrat curtains are used throughout the 1000m² villa: Twilight in the kitchen and dining room; Casa in the living room; and Grado in the study and bedrooms.

The home has a large kitchen, dining and living area on the ground floor. In all of these family spaces there is a subtly calibrated relationship between privacy and transparency. Children’s bedrooms with private bathrooms are located on the 1st floor. The top floor has a master bedroom that provides beautiful views over Amsterdam. At the opposite end of the house, abundant sunlight transforms the basement into a bright space.

Located in the south of the city, it is particularly notable for the balance between its indoor spaces and garden by Piet Ouldof. Signature features include the coloured brick, which references the traditional local architecture, natural wood and large, transparent openings.
