The Maersk Tower

Complying with the need for contemporary, light textiles with extraordinary durability properties
Designed by C.F. Møller architects, the Maersk Tower contains research and teaching facilities, as well as a conference centre with auditoriums and meeting rooms. The interior is arranged to provide opportunities for coming together and transcending different disciplines.

Steelcut and Steelcut Trio – both EU Ecolabel certified – were chosen to meet the need for contemporary, light textiles with the durability to withstand heavy daily use. In the large auditorium they are used to upholster 500 chairs in five different red shades. They are also used on sofas, benches and chairs throughout the building. In addition, Hallingdal, along with the curtains After Midnight and Campas, also feature at the premises.

The colour palette for Maersk Tower consists of discrete grey nuances and a light blue, as well as reds, which are inspired by a colour that artist Tonning Rasmussen chose for the original Panum. This tone is unfolded in a scale ranging from pink to deep red.

The Maersk Tower is a state-of-the-art building and hosts Denmark’s most energy-efficient laboratories. This, in combination with the movable heat shielding of the façade and other energy-saving measures, makes the building a pioneering example of energy-efficient laboratory construction.

The Maersk Tower is an extension of Panum, the University of Copenhagen’s Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.
