Myr and Mylla

Kvadrat Febrik presents Myr and Mylla by Note Design Studio.
The knitted upholstery textiles are crafted from 100% recycled polyester. With their intricate mélange surfaces, the two textiles combine to a compelling effect, offering limitless opportunities within interiors. Note Design Studio took the idea of irregularities, both in manmade and natural surfaces, as their starting point for Myr and Mylla.

Myr

Myr means wetlands in Swedish, referring to one such irregularity which has been recreated in the textile’s raised surface. Myr is constructed with a specially developed recycled polyester yarn made from used plastic bottles and knitted in a double jacquard. This composition gives the textile its matte appearance and soft touch.

Its core is created from a high-bulk recycled polyester filling yarn, punctuated with non-directional stitches. Whilst Myr shares the same base layer as Mylla, it features wider spacing between the stitches, which allows the filling yarn to bulk up and create the voluminous surface texture.

Each of Myr’s five colourways combines two hues of the same colour to accentuate the textile’s distinctive three-dimensionality. The resulting colour scale is rich and tactile, featuring a brick red, industrial grey, and a deep green, alongside a bold yellow and blue for dynamic contrasts.

Myr suits all contract and residential applications. It offers the multidirectional stretchability inherent to knitted textiles, they are ideal for upholstering organic forms. As a mono-material, Myr can be continuously recycled with no degradation in quality.

Mylla

In Swedish, Mylla means humus (the organic component in soil formed by the decomposition of plant material), referring to one such non-structural surface which has been recreated in the textile’s stippled surface.

Mylla is constructed with a specially developed recycled polyester yarn made from used plastic bottles and knitted in a double jacquard. This composition gives the textile its matte appearance and soft touch. Its core is created from a high-bulk recycled polyester filling yarn, punctuated with non-directional stitches.

The colour palette for Mylla offers ten colourways, with each one integrating two tones of the same colour to build the mélange effect. It features a series of beige, red, and brown notes as well as more architectural greys and blues.
